my touchpad just quit responding correctly

Dell Inspiron 1545 notebook

Specs: Windows 7
my mouse moves, reluctantly, everywhere execpt where I want it to I can coax it accros the screen but its like it knows where I want to go and will not go to that spot... so frustrating. I have downloaded updates for the touchpad (DELL touchpad) but it didn't make a difference. I have tried adjusting the sensitivity, etc but also makes no difference. I'm thinking something was possibly spilled or is down inside the touchpad. Is there a way to check this or get in there to clean out dust or whatever may be in there?

I do not know personally about cleaning it out (though it is probably possible), but is it under warranty (or extended warranty)? If it is, take it to where you purchased it and see if they have the ability to repair the touch pad for you.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.

you can go into device manager, and uninstall the touchpad, then reboot see if that fixes the issue...
