Could be a whole array of possibilities:
Are the fan(s) running?
Maybe loose CPU cooler?
Power unit failure.
Excessive dust built up.
MOBO problem
RAM problem or any other peripheral device...

If you can get into BIOS (tap F8 while booting) it might show temperatures there. If so let us know what they are because it is a possible cause of restarting.

It would be interesting to know if you can get into Safe Mode anyway as this would tend to eliminate hardware as a cause. Sometimes things can be fixed from there too.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Did you make any changes to it or did anything happen to it between the last time it worked OK and the first time it didn't?

If you can get inside the case without messing things up temporarily disconnect the drives and remove any add-on cards. Do that with the power cord removed from the unit. Remove any USB devices that may be connected. Then try starting it up. If it doesn't shut off then one of the disconnected items may be at fault.

Since you're getting the brief boot menu screen, assume for the moment the motherboard and hard drive are good. That leaves the power supply as a likely culprit--barring any hardware changes you may have made.
