Please give us some timing figures in seconds and tell us whether booting has started taking longer recently or it was so right from the beginning.

My PC takes 15 seconds before I see the BIOS post screen. Then BIOS post screen is on for 1-2 second, finally 36 seconds before the PC fully boots. The 15 seconds is for motherboard checking the integrity of the components, such as RAM, gfx card, etc. RAM takes longest with 10 seconds.

Therefore, I wait for about 53 seconds totally.

I have basically i7-860 4-core Intel CPU with HT, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, Radeon HD5770 gfx card, and 120 GB OCZ SSD drive.

Hope my example helps.

if its taking more time than it used too, check in "msconfig" startup, and uncheck anything that you dont need, but leave all microsoft startups checked.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

In MSCONFIG or system configuration, click on the boot tab, check no gui boot and 3 seconds instead 30 seconds for boot menu options.

Here is a good thread on making your overall computer faster.
