Access your BIOS and reset to boot from CD/DVD drive first. Make a bootable CD with Memtest86 on another computer, put in disk and start (you may need to 'hit any key to boot from CD'). Run all tests to verify if your memory is bad. If errors or it freezes, repeat test with one stick of memory at a time to verify bad stick. Replace as needed.
If memory runs through all tests without errors then make a bootable CD with hard drive utility from your hard drive mfg. (or Seatools from Seagate) and run that test.
Report back results.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
