Solved My laptop doesn't recognize when I put in a blank dvd

Specs: Windows 7, don't know
Trying to burn a dvd. I've put several blank dvd's in, but my computer says there's nothing there, and I keep getting a message asking me to insert a blank dvd. I don't know what's wrong, or why my system cannot see that there is a blank dvd there. Any advice?

Does this happen with any make of disk?

Is this s problem that has "just arrived" ; the drive being OK with "any" disks until now?

It has always been ok with any blank dvd or cd that I've used, so I don't know why this is happening....

Yes, answer to #3 would be interesting.

I guess you could try the MS Fix It here:

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

It is working with various discs as far as showing what's on them. I'm gonna guess that maybe it is because I was using 'cheap' discs, so I'm gonna get some 'brand name' discs and try them out. Thank you all for your advice:)
