Solved My G62 Notebook won't update.

February 2, 2017 at 11:02:30
Specs: Windows 7
It just started to do this. When I shutdown, it says do not turn off or unplug because it's doing an update. I've left it on for over 12 hours and it just keeps initiating but won't update.

There's no point waiting any longer. Hold the Power Off/On button, for at least 5 seconds, until it shuts down. Restart the computer and go from there. It will most likely sort itself out, otherwise go and get the update again.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I turned off Windows update in services.msc and my laptop runs faster than ever.

EDIT: Just realised you are not the original poster.

OK but if you are going to stick with manual Windows Updates you need to "at least" put the service back on about once a month and get the latest ones for security. There are usually quite a few on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
