Let us know how you get on with the association fix. Even if the symptoms are cured keep an eye on the system because this Lnk issue is often the result of malware, which could still be lurking.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Run the exe file association fix first. Most of your desktop icons are lnk anyway. I would think that would be true of your firefox icon too but maybe not. Is firefox the only one that's giving you a problem?

If that doesn't fix it it may be a problem with your firefox installation or as Derek suggests, malware.

Agreed the EXE fix is by far the mostly likely one to cure it, but not nothing lost by trying the LNK fix if you are still in trouble.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Glad to hear you have sorted it but it's a pity you didn't pop back because we could have probably fixed the malware without re-install.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
