My computer turns on and then turns back off

when i on my computer it turns on and turns back off after a few seconds

It sounds like an overheating issue typical when your vents and/or your CPU fan/heat sink are badly clogged. Get a can of compressed air like Dust Off (Radio Shack, Staples, Computer store, etc). If this is a laptop then open covered ports and blow air into all ports one at a time including the normal vents and try again. If this is a desktop then open the side (avoid touching internal components unless it is unplugged and you have grounded any static charge you may have had) and blow the air into the CPU Heat sink and fan, your rear fan, out your front vents and anywhere you find dust. Vacuum the AREA but NOT the inside of the computer since static from the plastic tube can be a major problem and possible damage from hitting something or ripping out a wire with the hose. The try again.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
