Solved My computer is slow responding on new web sites

Hewlett-packard / PAVILION

Specs: Windows 7, Intel Pentium D 925
When accessing a new web site it takes a very long time to complete. There is activity at the bottom of the screen showing that the system is waiting.

What browser are you using?

I would run these freebies first as a quick malware check (AdwCleaner first):

AdwCleaner:
https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcle...
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run the program. Run the "Scan", followed by the "Clean & Repair".

MalwareBytes:
https://www.malwarebytes.org/
(use the "Free Download" button rather than the "Buy Now" button).
After the install go to "Settings > Protection". Under Scan Options move the "Scan for rootkits" slider over to On and Run the Threat Scan. Quarantine anything it finds.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

After the above, I would recommend cleaning out the browser's History, etc. which always slows a browser down once it builds up.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Thanks for your info. I'll work on it--I have never knowingly cleaned my history, but will now. I will work on your suggestions. And I'm using Firefox as my browser.

If, after the above suggestions, you are still in trouble then try the Firefox "Refresh" here:

I had six months of history. Deleting all but the last month cleared up the problem. I can't believe it, but............... I don't know what I'd do without your help, not only on this, but other problems also!!!!

Thanks a whole bunch, Uncle Dewey
