My computer is in symbols instead of letters

March 3, 2011 at 18:04:38
Specs: Windows 7
didn't do anything to my computer. Just shut it down as I normally would. And When I turned it back on, suddenly everything was in symbols! I've tried to do a system restore, but it says that there is no previous restore point. I tried to restart the system with a previous image, but it says there is no previous system image. So I couldn't do that either. Someone suggested I run a check on driver C go to properties...but this message with a red x shows up that I can't do that either... Help me please.

Try Error Checking of C drive using Safe Mode. Power on - Start tapping the F8 key
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Type - chkdsk /r

Error Checking can be done if put into another computer as a slave.
I've done it with Windows xp but not with Windows 7

In Safe Mode try - Last Known Good Configuration

By selecting Safe Mode you can get to System Restore in
System Configuration - Tools Tab (click system restore) - Launch

Did you create the disc that each computer allows (one copy) in case
you need to reinstall Windows 7 ?
