My Alt Keys stopped coming out.

July 19, 2014 at 19:44:10
Specs: Windows 7
It used to work fine, but all of a sudden, I'm not getting most of the alt codes.

Some characters are coming out, such as
ALT + 123 = {

The num lock is on, sticky-keys is enabled, and the alt key itself is still doing stuff, so I don't think it's broken.

Any ideas?

Normal procedure for that would be to make sure you have the numlock key on. Press and hold down the ALT key and type in the numbers using the numeric keypad--not the number keys above the letter keys on the keyboard--then release the ALT key.

Is that how you're doing it? If so maybe there's a problem with the numeric keypad. Try another keyboard to make sure.

Hmm...I've gone through most of those procedures, and just got a new keyboard to try it out with.
It doesn't look like it changed anything though.

If it doesn't seem to be hardware then it must be software. Try it without sticky keys--I don't think that's required. If you have a lot of stuff running in the background you might shut down some unnecessary stuff. It doesn't seem like it would be malware-related but it wouldn't hurt to run some scans anyway. If all else fails you can try a system restore choosing a date from before the problem started.

Don't forget to preorder your Hatch green chili for this fall. Many vendors ship world-wide.
