MSWMM Files Not Supported

Specs: Windows 7
My old Vista laptop recently died, forcing me to get a
new one, a 7. I managed to salvage all my files but am
having a hard time getting my Movie Maker videos
back together.

First off, I'm not at all a fan of Windows Live Movie
Maker. For one thing, I can't figure out how to get it to
recognize the clips' new file locations.

So I downloaded Movie Maker 2.6, but every time I try
to open my projects, it gives me the message that the
file was created by a version of Movie Maker that is
not supported.

In summary, I guess I'm looking for any one of these:
- A download of Movie Maker 6.0 or 2.1 or some
version of Movie Maker that will support my files.
- A free download of some akin movie making
software that will support my files.
- A free download of a software that will convert my
MSWMM files into some video file that is workable in
Movie Maker 2.6.
- Only as a last resort, a step-by-step guide on how to
get Live Movie Maker to recognize new file locations.

I believe that WMM 2.6 would have been the one that came with Vista, 2.1 was the XP version, so not too sure why you are getting the problem. You can get version 2.1 from HERE if you want to give it a go.
