MSWMM Files Not Supported in Windows 7?

Specs: Windows 7
I recently upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. I am having a hard time being able to viewmy Movie Maker videos as before.

First off, I'm not at all a fan of Windows Live Movie Maker. For one thing, I can't figure out how to get it to recognize the clips' new file locations nor can I control splicing of vids, transitions, & other visual effects.

So I downloaded Movie Maker 2.6, but every time I try to open my projects, it gives me the message that the file was created by a version of Movie Maker that is not supported.

In summary, I guess I'm looking for any one of these:
- A download of Movie Maker 6.0 or 2.1 or some version of Movie Maker that will support my files (I already tried AVS Video Editor 4...didn't work).
- A free download of some akin movie making
software that will support my files.
- A free download of a software that will convert my MSWMM files into some video file that is workable in Movie Maker 2.6.
- Only as a last resort, a step-by-step guide on how to get Live Movie Maker to recognize new file locations.

Movie Maker is not compatable with W7, Microsoft left it out as they want you to use the LIVE.... version.

Try run in compatibility mode?
