moving info from mac using flash to PC

October 23, 2010 at 10:48:17
Specs: Macintosh
I downloaded embroidery designs on my MAC then copied to flash drive to move to pc where my embroidery programs are. My PC is running windows 7 pro. It tells me to format flash drive. Should I format and then reload designs from MAC and try again or do I need another solution? Designs are .pes extensions. Any help would be great.

In general macs will use the windows format you bought the flash drive with unless it is an external hard drive. It may be that you or someone formatted it with the mac format.

If you formatted it hfs then you have to make a choice. One is to use a bootcamp tool that allows windows 7 to read the hfs. Another is to simply go back to the mac, copy the files back to the mac and reformat the drive in some windows 7 version like fat or ntfs.

Lastly is to use a live cd. A live linux cd and read hfs and move the files.

I could be wrong on all that too. It may be that you have some damage to the drive. Using it on a mac would maybe tell if it is even good.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
