Mouse button not working

Specs: Windows XP
My mouse will not click and I have a Laptop with Windows 7. Worked fine this morning. I can move the mouse, but I cannot click on anything. Your thoughts please. I am in college and need this every day.

if you are using a wireless mouse change the batteries. Try a usb optical mouse and see if that works.

You can also try uninstalling the mouse in device manager and then rebooting and let the OS re-install it to see if that helps.
You never said which mouse you mean so it's all a guessing game
