MODEM- Does it have to be always ON?

Hi all.

My ISP recently advised me to keep my cable modem online all the time in order to maintain a proper connection. Is this correct?

I always switch my PC and modem off at nights to conserve power and avoid modem overheating.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Thanks

As long as the equipment is functioning normally, shutting it off should be no problem....just takes a couple of minutes for things to sync back up.

Some companies claim that they adjust quality over a 24 hour period when new. After that I am pretty sure that turning off all un-needed devices will save energy and make no other difference.

I keep all my computer stuff except a tv recording system on power strips. I turn it all off and keep it off until I use it.

A Pit Bull is like a gun you can pet. And there is no safety on it.
