Solved Mobile phone not getting detected?

Specs: Windows 64
I got a regular phone that I connect to the computer using a usb wire. The phone doesnt require any phone software fot the computer to detect it. Usually once I connect the phone to the computer , a message will say "installing device driver", and a drive letter to give me access to the phone files will show up in "my computer". For some reason it doesnt happen anymore in one laptop. I know there' nothing wrong with the phone because it does get detected in another laptop. Both laptops have windows 7. Any idea on why its not getting detected in the one laptop? Could it be something that's not turned on in "services.msc" . Usb port seems to be wokring fine as it does detect usb memory sticks.

I don't know if it's always true but my experience is that windows is detecting the SD card in the phone and not the phone itself but of course you'd expect windows' reaction to the connection would be the same for both computers. Are they both windows 7 64 bit?

You might try taking the sd card out and using a compatible card reader and see if windows sees it then.

Don't forget to preorder your Hatch green chili for this fall. Many vendors ship world-wide.
