run your recovery cd and choose repair...

In this particular situation, I did some online research and found out I had a USB flash drive still in a port and it seems the computer wanted to boot up off of that. I simply removed it, restarted the laptop, and away we went with no more errors. What a relief.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will keep that in mind if I ever have a more serious issue.

Go into your BIOS and change the boot order. It's obviously set to boot off an external usb device. Set it to boot off the HDD.

Either go to your manufacturer's homepage for that info, or if you can see a splash screen at bootup it will say press (some key) to enter setup.
