My desktop has Windows 7 Home Premium. How do I migrate the OS and everything else to a larger hard drive?
are the hard drives the same type like both sata or both ide? Answers are only as good as the information you provide.
How to properly post a question:
Sorry no tech support via PM's
wanderer...thanks for your inquiry! Both hard drives are SATA, and I would be using the original motherboard et al.
You could use Acronis True Image HD Live CD.
It copies all the things from the source HDD to destination HDD.
Including all partitions.
The most important thing is it's easy to use.
Rho, I had thought about using Acronis, but friends had mentioned Paragon also. Thanks for your suggestion. It does seem like the best option!
Also the hard drive manufacturer that made your new drive will have a free utility for download that will allow you to clone the old drive to the new one. If you purchased the retail version you may have received this on a CD in the box, but with OEM and some boxed drives, you need to download it if you want it. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
