Messed up harddrive

Specs: Windows 7
my son messed with his laptop and now there is no OS and no drivers. I tried insatlling Windows 7 but I get to a point when it tells me it can't find the CD/DVD driver...How can I do this when my son has also lost his driver installation disc when we moved...help is appreciated.

what brand is it, most laptops come with a hidden partition that can accessed by tapping a F key at boot.
from there you can reset the machine to the day you bought it.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

The Notebook..ACER Extensa 5630EZ...he has completly wiped the harddrive trying to reset everything.

if he has completely wiped the hard drive including the hidden partition, you will have to contact acer and buy a set of restore disks.
Acer offers a recovery partition (accessed by pressing Alt +F10 at Startup) if you cant see that then acer is your best bet, or if you know someone with the same machine, ask them to make a system image.
