Solved message at reboot or shutdown

Specs: Wiindows 7 Home Premium, 3.15 GHz/8 GB
Ever since I replaced the CMOS battery a few weeks ago, I've noticed that now every time I either Reboot my computer or shut it down, a brief message appears against a Black background, but it appears for just an instance and I cannot read as to what it says. This never happened until I changed out the CMOS battery. Is there a way to suspend the screen at that instance to read the message? I'm not sure, but I think one time I saw the words "program running" or "close program" or something to that effect. Appreciate any help or comments. Thanks.

OS: Windows 7 64bit/Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64bit
CPU/Ram: E8500/8GB PC2-6400
Manufacturer/Model: AVA Direct / Built online

You can catch it with a camera or videocam. I get a black screen very often telling me progs need to be shut down first. Meanwhile windows is shutting them down, and the screen usually ends. Not sure of the tie-in to the CMOS battery.

Sounds like it is just taking a second to close some program or other. I wonder if the fact that it happened after changing the battery was pure co-incidence.

Might be worth looking in Events to see if there is anything mentioned there.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
