Making Programs Start From RUN Box

I was wondering what the registry key was to start programs from RUN. I want to start a program like Microsoft Office Word by just typing Word in the RUN box, just as I would Notepad or Regedit. I know I could just type winword or notepad++ but is there a way to customize what I need to put in there? Any suggestions would be very appreciated. I know there are programs out there like Launchpad, but I would rather do it myself in Registry. Thank you.

Make a simple batch file. The name of the batch file in normal path would start what you want.

Would I place the batch in Program Files in order to just type Word instead of WINWORD? I tried a batch before on desktop but it needed me to type a path to it.
I tried placing my Word.bat in the Office12 folder but wont start with just typing Word in RUN. My Batch is: START C:\"Program Files (x86)"\"Microsoft Office"\Office12\WINWORD.EXE

The batch file has to be in the path found by command path.

The full commandline in the batch is useful.
