Majority of my files have changed

March 26, 2011 at 18:46:42
Specs: Windows 7
I use the program UTorrent, and one day I tried to open up one of the files through UTorrent and then that file and all others have changed. When I try to open them they open up through UTorrent and say the file does not exist in UTorrent. The icons of the programs affected have changed to a piece of paper with the UTorrent logo on it, and not only has this affected all my games (not important) but it has affected Microsoft Word and other office programs, my ability to access the internet, and limited access to my computer.

Can anyone help?

Run your Anti-Virus program. You probably downloaded more than you bargained for.

You may be able to correct things by running a System restore to a time prior to that problem.

Turns out both my AVG and System Restore have been affected. I tried the System Restore and that said It could not start.

I'm most likely gonna have to redo the whole computer.

Try booting into Windows Safe Mode by tapping F8 at start up. Then try running your AV from there. You can also choose Safe Mode with networking to be able to download, if needed.
