Try booting to safe mode. If an administrator password is requested hit enter. If that doesn't work type administrator.

"help, I can't even reinstall windows 7"

What would a Windows password have to do with re-installing?

sounds like a bios password that might have been set up by another user. Missing passwords always seem to make me wonder, especially on laptops and notebooks.

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

punky

I didn't notice this is a notebook. Contact the manufacturer of the unit for help.

Why don't you first explain how you stupidly was changing administrator control (and lost control). Any further help from us here at this site now depend solely on your explaining the circumstances.

i was trying to get rid of the welcome at the startup, when you have to click on your name to continue on....it annoys me, you can never turn on the comp and walk away to start.

If your laptop is only a couple of years old you probably need to contact the manufacturer in order to get a unique alternate password to unlock the laptop.

Modern laptops may have as many as THREE separate passwords.

The first is for the BIOS - Manufacturer required
The second is hard drive- Manufacturer required
The third is a Windows log-in password. This can be worked around.

Which one are you looking for?

And for future reference, if you want to bypass that irritating screen that asks you to log in, try a nice little freeware program called TweakUI.

If you deleted the admin account you can not re-create it that I know of.

I never tried it but at least you could try a system restore point to a time before your test.

Otherwise it sounds like a re-install time.
