lost backup and restore applet on win7

August 18, 2011 at 08:52:10
Specs: Windows 7 64b Prof.
Although the scheduled backup (Win7 64b) is performed regularly and the results monitored via Windows Explorer, the backup and Restore item in the Control Panel seized to open the applet and does nothing so I cannot interfere and change the settings etc. It happened about a month ago for no apparent reason.

Hi,
Microsoft Essentials report a clean bill, though some Trojan was detected and removed.(TrojanDownloader:Java/OpenConnection.NC)
The restore to a previous date didn't work because I was not sure how far back I should go and the two times I tried it had some side effects on drivers and tweaks I had made since so I had to revert to the presentl again. Is there not a way to identify the missing applet and restore it to its place ? Thanks anyway. Yannis
