Solved locked out of Windows 7 ultimate on Dell PC

Specs: Windows 7
Windows 7 ultimate on Dell PC.Usually opening screen has my user name and I just type password. Now asks for user name and password but nothing works. Can get into Safe but same situation. no offer for different acct to sign in

Boot in to recovery mode and look in the Users directory for the name.

You can also boot off a CD that will give you access to the Windows 7 drive and look up the name. Linux live CDs, WinPE, BartPE, or the windows recovery CD (as mentioned above)

I am no computer person so I have no real info for you but after several hrs I seem to have fixed the problem via hit and miss.The main issue was that the sign in screen wasn't responding so I had no access to any solution that involved selecting anything like a different acct. Couldn't get past sign in. I placed my win 7 install disc in the computer , rebooted in Safe Mode with command prompt ,this gave me access to restore and I restored to earlier date. thanks to all
