You will probably have a recovery partition, research by reading your manual or googling.

Previous poster was a bit vague for the uninitiated, so to speak.

The method for performing a Factory Restore depends on the actual laptop model.
If it has a factory backup partition on the hard drive (most do), you have to press and hold down a specific key as soon as you turn it on. This invokes the Factory Restore program.

However, it's a "last resort" option, especially if you have no backups of your data, because it overwrites everything currently on the C: partition, so what you end up with is a fresh Windows installation just as it was when you bought it new, including all the bloatware, trial-ware and all the other cr*p that you don't need, and may indeed have spent hours getting rid of to reclaim wasted disk space.

That's why Factory Restore is last resort for many.

Please post your laptop model so I (or someone) can supply more relevant & specific information.

Did you create a System Repair Disk when you got the computer. Booting from that will usually solve most start-up problems unless the Windows Installation is hopelessly corrupted, in which case.Phill22's option is the only one you have.

If you don't have a system Repair Dsik, try and get hold of one. Any one will do providing it is the same type as your installation, that is 32 bit or 64 bit. Boot from that and it may avoid having to do a complete recovery.

How old is your laptop ?

Did this issue happen after you did something ? Install Windows updates ? install a program ? open an e-mail attachment ? use your laptop on your lap or in bed ?
