If it is working in the other 2 ports. I would suspect either poor connectivity on the much used USB port or that it has become unusable.

You could try other USB devices (e.g. USB sticks) in that USB port and see if they are correctly detected and are useable normally.

Well that is strange?

I cannot see what could be wrong with a USB mouse that makes it only work in 2 out of 3 functioning USB ports.

Try again just in case you had some temporary problem. Otherwise this to me is inexplicable.

You may have removed it or some other device without using the 'safely remove hardware' button or removed it after the computer was turned off. Try inserting it before you start up the laptop and it just might recognize it.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
This site is about helping people, lets keep it that way.

I have the same issue it seems with a netbook. Mine is port 2 but the other 2 ports regonize it as it should. I get power to the mouse and in the device manager under the mouse items it doesn't show. The strange thing is under the USB controllers it sees it as a USB scroll mouse.

If you end up finding a solution it would be most helpful. It is more fustrating than anything. Not the limited ports for mouse functions, but not being able to correct it.
