Laptop LAN Instantly Slows when Plugged in

Specs: Windows 7, Intel Core 2 Due/3 GB Ram
Ok, so when I have my laptop plugged in to a power source, which is most of the time since my battery sucks from being old, the LAN is horribly slow, dial-up slow, even though its a high speed connections, but when I unplug it, it speeds up dramatically. Please help!

have you tried removing the battery and just using AC?

You may want to replace the old battery.

Tried it didn't work. But anyways, I have tried looking at task manager and to see if any programs start taking up bandwidth when I plug it in, but nothing does. Also I really need to know how to fix this because I can only run on battery for like 30 minutes, so it really cuts down on my produtivies to unplug the power cord when I need to surf the web fast, then plug it back in.
