Laptop hangs when left unattended...

Hewlett-packard / Pavilion dv6-2171ee

Specs: Windows 7, i7 / 500 gb
Sometimes I close the lid when I leave my laptop for a while, or sometimes I just let the lid open. And when I resume using it, I can no longer use it because it is already hang. Hitting the power off is the only thing I could do... I've been doing this since I had this laptop but only now that I'm having this kind of problem, I never change any of the settings. I don't think somebody did because I'm the only one using this laptop, so something is definitely wrong in here. By the way this especially happens when I leave it with downloading in progress, but just the same it also happens when I leave it without downloading in progress but with the browser on. But as I said, I've been doing this before without having this kind of problem. I hope somebody here could help...

if you leave it plugged in, then why not set all the power settings to never and just set a screensaver?

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

Try cleaning out your browser (cookies, history, internet files, etc.).
Try disk clean up then do a defrag.
This just sounds like you need to do regular maintenance on your machine.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

The above assumes the laptop originally worked right.
