Keyboard (and spacebar) malfunctioning.

November 12, 2013 at 09:13:09
Specs: Windows 7
When typing the words skip to and begin in other places in the sentence or in the paragraph. Annoying. Also the only way I can space is to stop after every word and hit the center of the space bar. I have vacuumed my keyboard thoroughly, and, although better, not operating properly.

Laptop or PC?

If it's a PC then you can replace the keyboard. If laptop then you could use an external USB keyboard. If it is specific keys (like the spacebar) then it can sometimes be cured, at least temporarily, by turning the computer off then giving the offending key(s) several quite hard taps.

I doubt this is a software issue but the keyboard itself playing up.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Is there any chance this is due to accidentally pressing on
the laptop's touch pad or moving the mouse while typing?
I have the touchpad turned off on the only laptop I've ever
used, because it was always doing things when I brushed
against it while typing.

I had the same problem Jeff...it can also be checked by trying a USB keyboard to try to isolate the problem.

jbeanpaagosa, if it is a laptop, internal keyboards are real inexpensive anymore and quite easy to replace....

Well, bless you people. It IS a laptop, so I don't want an external keyboard. I will test it with my external keyboard from my desktop and probably get the new keyboard. It's not even two year old! Thanks, folks!

Probably in the Control Panel under mouse or keyboard but give us the make and model number and we can find out. Google with the same info is another option.
