Key Board Not Responding 0085 Failure At Previous Bootig

  • -1

I have a Dell Inspiron 560 that does not boot properly. When the computer is turned on, the fans start running at full speed, but the POST screen does appear. Shortly thereafter, a screen comes up with this message:
“Alert! Previous attempts at booting this system have failed at checkpoint [0085]. For help in resolving this problem, please note this checkpoint and contact Dell Technical Support.”
Below that there are the messages “Keyboard Failure” and “CMOS Checksum error.” It prompts to press F1 to continue, F2 to enter setup, but this is where the problem is. The keyboard is completely unresponsive. I can’t do anything except press the power button and shut down the machine. I’ve tried different brands of keyboards, different USB ports (front and back, there are no PS/2 ports), and still nothing. Also, at this point, the system starts making 5 beeps in a row, the fans are still running at full speeds, and the power button is blinking orange.
