Specs: Windows 7
I can cure this by covering the touchpad with a piece of cardboard. Is there a more sophisticated solution?

Open the touchpad's settings and see if there is a setting for sensitivity.
If there is, reduce it. The touchpad settings can be accessed from the touchpad icon in the system-tray, or from Control Panel > Mouse.

Thanks for trying to help me. I have searched in control panel, mouse and system tray but nothing refers to the touchpad. My laptop is an Advent Quantum Q200 - any other ideas?

May have solved my own problem by downloading something called Touchfreeze - now to see if it works. Thanks for trying to help.
