Specs: Windows 7
Hi there,
To briefly describe my problem, i believe ive attracted a trojan (not sure, let me explain whats happened):
so i was downloading a file converter that my friend assured me was safe, afterwards i downloaded a dvd ripper from the same company. Bad idea. Basically it loaded up, i chose to use the trial version and put in my batman the dark knight DVD to test the dvd ripper, i clicked the Rip now button and it began. After a short time it had (not responding) in the title bar. After seeing this i repeatedly tried to close the program, using the X in the top right corner of the application, the ctrl alt delete and task managering End now, but it just wouldn't budge. After about 5 minutes of trying to get it to close i became suspicious (obviously too late) and uninstalled the programme itself from my computer via control panel. After doing this the programme was still there, so i decided to reboot, ever since i shut it down the computer hasn't rebooted, it starts up and says there was a fault found from recently added hardware/software, and gives me the option to start in safe mode or normal mode. When i start in either mode, they both reach the "Starting Windows" screen, and then just freeze forever.

I can't really tell you my specs as im not on the computer because it wont boot but ill try:
it's an iMac, bought in around 2009? desktop, 24".
(please note: i have also tried booting in OSX since this incident and it just gets frozen at the apple screen.)

i've tried everything to recover it, using the windows disk, created a windows recovery disk, and everything just freezes at the windows screen. What can i do? what are my options? if i can't get past this screen how can i even re-image it? it seems impossible :/

I hope i've given enough detail as to the problem. If not please feel free to ask for more specific information, i'll probly be up all night fixing it anyway.

Quick responces are appreciated

Thanks for taking the time to listen.

Boot to dvd and attempt a restore point.

May have to reload to OEM state.

Some AV programs may work if you boot to a live cd/usb.

im going to have to be quite honest here, i'm quite the novice when it comes to hardware. so im afraid although you've given me instructions on what to do, i just dont understand how to go about implementing them.

i understand that you've already helped so much by indicating a solution, but would it be possible to have a kind of step by step instruction set on how to implement them?

many thanks,

Dunno about MacOS so I can't help there.

See this link for some ideas on how to fix windows. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/...

Fixing windows may or may not help this virus deal. You may have to reload the entire OS at some point if nothing else works.
