how can i get past the sign in screen I bought the laptop used an just tried to get it going obviously I don't know what Im doing so could you tell me other ways to open it

If your laptop was bought used from a reliable source, then that source/vendor ought to to have either removed all other account (logon details etc.) and created an account for you; or at least ensured the default Admin account was available to you (having again removed all previous accounts); or... restored the system to its factory delivery status - which would wipe all accounts, data files etc. and restore the default Admin access.

Possibly trying Admin logon may allow you in; after-which you create an accountt for yourself, and delete any other accounts at that time.

If/when you manage to logon properly... You would be wise regardless to reset (factory/system restore routine) to as new.. Thereby ensuring it is a clean system with no hidden nasties present...

There is marked and understandable reluctance here (and on many similar forums who value their integrity) to assist too deeply with password issues. This as many a laptop is stolen, then sold on to unsuspecting buyers; or even retained for the thief's own personal use.

If the logon box you are getting is the windows one... you may be wiser to simply take it back to the vendor ask them to rsolve the situation for you; or simply run a factory system routine - which will do as described above? If it's a bios locked password... you will need to either return to vendor to clear it, or contact actual brand name supplier (laptop manufacturer) with proof of legitimate ownership. Reputable vendors will not assist with what they may perceive as questionable ownership, or stolen kit...

So overall... Perhaps first return to vendor (shades of an olde Presley number here...) and request their help. If they refuse then request a full refund, if needs-be with the help of your local trading standards officers or Business Bureau or local equivalents?
