Evga Geforce 8800 gts video card - 512mb...
June 19, 2010 at 00:18:08
Specs: Windows 7, AMD athlon 250 3ghz x2
Hello, After installing this card into my
system, i booted it only to hear a loud irritating
beeping sound. I turned it off and reinstalled
the old video card... only to hear a lower
beeping sound... I turned it off and pulled out
that videocard.... to only hear the same
beeping sound... The entire time I was
touching the side of my metal case.. Ive done
this hardware change many times with no
issue and now this?

My uneducated guess is ive fried the mother
board... if i did what peripherals are also fried...
thank you... my email is zgdt@live.com if you
wish to continue this quicker... please and
thank you very much.

check with the mobo manufacturer what the beeps mean, there are many sets of beeps that indicate what the problem maybe.
also check all connections and that the cpu cooler is ok, you may have dislodged a connection or a memory card, also make sure you have connected the card correctly the 8800 gts, requires two power connectors i believe....once you have done all these things, let us know what the manufacturer of the mobo says the beeps are indicating and we can take it from there..

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

Unless you want to risk being slammed with emails, do not post it in an open forum. I would advise you to Edit your original post and remove it.
The following is a chart of typical beep codes that may help you to evaluate the problem (or go to MB mfg's site for their list):

Also try reseating your memory cards as well as all plugs/connectors. (Note, your case works as a ground for you only if the power plug is still plugged in at the time. Additionally, memory is one of the more sensitive to static discharge if I have heard correctly.)

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.
