Specs: Windows 7
Whenever I start my laptop it goes to a screen that tells me to "insert boot disc and press any key to continue." Does it mean to insert the windows 7 CD? Even when I do that i gets to the System Recovery options box then freezes.

Here are the specs of my laptop:

make and Model: Gateway NV55C39U

RAM: 4 GB DDR3 Memory

Windows Version: Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit

Type: laptop

Thanks for your help guys

Run a bootable CD with Memtest on it to test your memory, let it run through all tests. Any errors, retest one stick at a time. Replace problem one if not matched, replace the pair if running dual channel (2 same sticks).
Run a bootable CD with your hard drive mfg's utility on it to test your hard drive for problems. Minor ones should be fixed, many or major ones will need replacement. Open covers on bottom to check hard drive brand, or use Seatools from Seagate since it appears to work with all conventional hard drives.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Could it be overheating?

Thanks. Is there a way to get that memtest for free?
