Here is how I handle Command Prompt.
Start, All Programs, Accessories,
Now grab the Command Prompt Icon with the right mouse button and move it into the Desktop. Release the mouse button and click Create shortcut here. Double click the Icon to open the Command Prompt screen.

Adjusting the screen.
Press Alt + Space bar, Properties, Font Tab,
select 10x18, Raster Fonts.
Now Layout Tab. Enter from Top to Bottom into the boxes
Check Let System position window
Now Colors Tab
Screen Text select Green
Now you can open Command Prompt any time from the desktop.
Type in ipconfig Enter, or ipconfig /all Enter
or any other command.

Cheers Peter

Are you typing this command directly in the Run box? You should be typing CMD in the run box and then entering your command in the screen that comes up.
