Solved Internet Explorer has a black strip down the right hand side

November 19, 2013 at 05:08:26
Specs: Windows 7

I saw someone had the exact same problem back in 2012. Did this ever get resolved?

It's very frustrating eg. I have to click where a link should be on the screen, not where it actually is. To scroll I have to click on the black strip, not on the 'up' and 'down' arrows.

Apologies if this is in the wrong category.
Can anyone help me load a screen shot. Nothing happens when I click on Attach a Screen Share.

Updating graphics driver has been known to fix this. You can download the latest graphics driver from your laptop or PC maker's website. or if your PC is not factory-built, download driver from your motherboard maker's website.

If that doesn't fix it I suggest you use an alternative web browser such as Firefox or Chrome. Many people (including yours truly) have given up using IE for several reasons. Join the club.

thanks for a quick reply.
Ignore my recent update - I was back in Firefox as it's set as my default. Living up to my username!
Will let you know how I get on with the driver update
Thanks again.

After many hours finding the right driver update - and getting waylaid doing a BIOS update - this solved the problem. Brilliant, thanks.
In case it helps anyone else, I have a Dell Vostro 3550. The Dell website defaults to 32bit so make sure you change the drop-down box to 64bit before downloading the Intel driver update. I learnt the hard way!
