Specs: Windows 7, 4MB
I have bought a Dell with Windows 7 pre-installed, and I am desperate to install XP because none of my old programs runs on 7. Is there a way to do it?

Have you tried compatibility mode to make it work? what are the applications you cannot get to work as they must be proprietary because most applications will work properly. Also what version of windows 7 do you have? the Pro/Ultimate versions will allow you to virtualize a windows XP environment for these exact situations

Thank's for your immediate interest. Its Windows 7 Home Edition 64-bit. My applications I cannot run, are mainly dictionaries. Ihaven't tried compatibility mode, because I don't know how to.

Right click on the file/program, select properties, then the compatibility tab, then run as XP.....

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.

I'd use vmware's vmplayer. Use both xp and windows 7 at the same time.

Your problem is more likely to be the 64 bit os. Many old programs and drivers simply do not work.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
