Installing Windows 7 Upgrade

Specs: Windows XP
I am building a new 64 bit computer with no OS but I have an upgrade to windows 7. Can I image copy a version of XP from an old computer to my new one and upgrade?

Yes and no. You have to install a legal copy of XP or Vista or lower version of Windows 7 to legally qualify.

Being that this is a brand new installation, purchasing the OEM version would be a good choice, being that it costs about what the upgrade version does....That is if you are willing to pass on the microsoft product support, that is.

you could install vista or win 7RC, and use this to update, although it is frowned upon by MS, and some people on forums, but as you have the update already!!!!!

You can run a full install of Windows 7 using the upgrade disc, just pop your upgrade disc in your DVD drive & boot up from it & follow the prompts.
