Installing XP on new hardware is not always very simple, and sometimes not possible. The issues include non-native support for SATA and drivers that are not available (or not readily available) for all newer hardware. I would recommend stay with Windows 7 and make use of Xp compatibility for programs you may need. If you decide to go ahead with XP, do your homework first!!!

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.

Installing an older OS on hardware for which it was not designed can be difficult if not impossible. There will often be driver problems. The installation disk can hardly be blamed for not having drivers for devices that did not exist when it was produced. You may be able to obtain drivers from the manufacturer, or not.

These problems are worse with laptops that often use proprietary hardware.

You will regret downgrading in the long run. If the PC came with win 7 why not just update it? Don't try reverting just because you are not familiar with windows 7.
