Specs: Windows XP, i3
Now iam using windows xp os, i like to install windows 7 in my computer instead of xp, how i install it from a cd.?

First of all, make sure you backup any important data you might have on a separate partition or a CD/USB.

Boot from the Win 7 CD and wait for the installation files to load. Then follow the instructions given on the website linked below, while making a note on the following things:

- When prompted to select between Upgrade and Custom installation, select Custom;
- Make sure the format the partition that currently has Win XP on it (there are instructions on how to format it on the website) & select the formatted partition for Win 7 install destination.

That would be pretty much all, except you`ll need to install the necessary drivers after you install your OS.

Windows 7 is generally on a DVD (not CD). It can be installed along side XP:

Otherwise, if you don't want to keep XP, your best bet would be to reformat the drive and install Win7 by itself. Make sure you have compatible drivers for your hardware and your machine is capable of running it:
