Specs: Windows 7, quad core 2.4 ghz
IF i install windows 7 64 bit from my retail DVD on 1 computer( the same computer i have done before with previous installations. and have it activated with the same key,. could i physically remove that same Sata HDD and plug it into ANOTHER desktop of similar specs and have it work( boot up, windows update, etc and still be considered genuine

could it do that without problems?
I was just curious in case my motherboard died but my hard drive was ok

Likely Windows would balk at the change of hardware. Not necessarily a lack of registration, but when it "sees" that it's being moved from one machine to another, it generally fails to boot. You'd do better by installing the HDD in the new machine and then installing Win7. You'll likely have to get a hold of a Microsoft support person to get assistance in registering it.
