Actually you have 32bit Vista, there is no 34 bit. In order to install 64bit on a 32bit machine (run upgrade adviser from Windows 7 site first) you need to do a Clean Install. This means that you need to make a back up of all of your personal files to an external drive and when you are done, you will need to reinstall your programs as well. If this prospect does not turn you off, then you can do this from an upgrade disk by choosing Custom when you get the choice, then choosing Partition/Format and deleting the current partition (the largest one that Windows Vista was on), then creating a new partition out of the remaining free space, and formatting it. Then you can install it and choose which to install.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
