Do you have a CD inside the CD drive? If so, remove it. If not then try booting into the BIOS (setup) and verify your boot order is set to boot to the hard drive.

Your hard drive may have died.

Test the hard drive to start with, as it may have failed.
You can test it with drive manufacturer's diagnostic software which runs from a bootable CD. The links are here:

When you've downloaded the ISO file from one of the above links using a working PC, you can create a CD from it with IMGBurn from here:

Then boot your laptop from that CD to test the hard drive.

Note: you may have to set "CD-ROM Drive" as the first boot device in BIOS Setup if the laptop will not boot from a CD.

Today's computers are able to boot from CD/DVD drives and from USB disks. If your computer's boot priority is given to one of them and a non-bootable disk is present during boot-up, then you may receive this message. So please do as OtheHill said and check boot priority in BIOS.

If still no joy, then your boot partition table might have been damaged. You must use startup repair facility in Windows 7.
