Specs: Windows 7
c drive almost full and d drive empty. i want to increase the size of the drive
C drive 58.5 GB
D drive 397 GB
i have windows 7 home premium
dell inspiron N4010

It would be better if you moved your files to the D drive & leave it at that. If you still want to change the size of the C drive, there are programs available.

It depends how you are set up. It might help a bit to move certain folders like this:

If you do this create the new replacement folders on the D drive "first", then direct the change to them.

If you have any large programs on the C drive they can usually be uninstalled and re-installed on the D drive (assuming you have the CD's or downloads). Set "Control Panel > Programs and Features" to show installed programs in size order - click size bar at top.

Who partitioned the HDD? If that's the way it came from Dell, there are probably other hidden partitions. I'm guessing you have a 500GB HDD so you're at least 10GB short. Check Disk Management:
