What browser, IE, Firefox or ?

Usually if you go to the websites a few times they eventually pick up the icon.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I'm on windows 7, Internet Explorer 8. I've noticed this recently. I have a strange icon that I'm not familiar with. I was on MyHeritage website and a black cross icon was on the web browser.

Thanks

If the website doesn't provide an icon then you usually get the standard e symbol (as per Internet Explorer).

If I am going to the same website as you, the icon should be a green circle with a tree in it - seen on their webpages too.

Not sure what is going on but as "favicons" arrive in the Temporary Internet Files folder it might be worth clearing it. From IE it is:
Tools > Internet Options > General tab > Delete button under Browsing history.
Make sure Temporary Internet Files is checked on the page that pops up, then use Delete button.

After that, delete your Favorites entry, re-start the computer and try saving it again.
I am assuming that the icon for a "Favorite" is what you mean.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I cleared the temporary files. I'll see what happens but the icon I saw on MyHeritage was not a website I recognized. Also the icons changed on websites I usually use, like recently I was making reservations for Motel 6 and than I saw the Motel 6 icon on my bank website. Thanks for the help
