I want to remove Vista and install Windows7

Specs: Windows 7
To do this, do I need to buy the full version of Windows 7 or the upgrade package?

Basically, I want to prguge the laptop of all this unwanted dross, I don't need anything kept including installed software, and I want to start again with a nice clean new operating system. Wil installing the full version of Windows 7 achieve this result?

My laptop has Vista on it and the memory is all used up (2 x 50Gb) on both the C drive and the D drive, without any of my own documents on it, just unknown files which I presume is something to do with Vista. I am worried that I have a virus of some sort that is using up all my memory and I am hoping that even if this is the case that getting rid of Vista and installing Windows 7 will correct this for me. There is no reason for me to have a virus. I use bona fide software, don't visit "dodgy" websites (!) and i have installed Norton 360.

Thanks in advance for your help

Thirdly, should I install 32 bit or 64 bit, assuming I am given the choice?

IF you cannot use Windows 7, try getting rid of Norton, it is a system hog. There are many very good antivirus/antispyware programs that work better and use your system resources wisely. IF you cannot, do a factory recovery on your Vista.
Either way, PLEASE avoid Norton AND McAfee.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.
