Solved I want to download data from memory stick in e: but cannot

Specs: Windows 7
There is no sign of e drive under 'my computer'. I am trying to transfer data from my pc to my laptop and have downloaded files on to a memory stick. Having inserted the stick into drive e, I do not seem to be able to download and there is no sign of Drive e on 'My Computer' display.

The drive letter may not neccessarily be 'E' on every computer that you use the memory stick on.

For example if you plug another drive into your laptop for example and that takes the letter 'E' when you stick your drive in question into the same laptop while the other memory stick is already in, then it cannot take the same letter.

Open my computer then inset the memory stick into your pc, then watch out for a new drive letter appearing. This should be your memory stick. If that doesnt work then try another port on your pc (back and front).

Does the memory stick work on another computer?

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Thank you very much. I plugged the stick into the usb at the back of the machine and now the data (and the 'e') is there. However, I don't know how to save it on to 'c;. Any ideas?

Use Copy and Paste. Highlight files (select) with left click then right click a highlighted file to select Copy. If more than one file is highlighted right click any one to copy them all.

If you want to highlight a number of files and folders, these keys are useful, also Ctrl + A will highlight all files and folders:

The reason I suggested Copy and Paste rather than Cut and Paste is that if you make a mistake the original files will still remain on the memory stick. They can always be deleted using right click > Delete, after you have confirmed the files have been copied.

Drag and drop, by holding down left mouse key, is another possibility but Copy & Paste is the safest.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
